2012 Quality Canadian Furniture Trends Display

This year, four distinct styles were used to create the twelve displays. Here is a look and description of each style.
CHIC
This no-frills yet sophisticated style, ideal for mature couples, will feature contemporary furniture with gentle curves. Dominated with blends of white and beiges, the space can also be paired with light and dark gray’s or even a black and white duo. Diffused lighting, small accent tables, long cotton or linen veil curtains will soften the ambiance.
COZY
This style will highlight a relaxed dashing look, ideal for a family with young kids. Décor and accessories will include light wood furniture, sofas with lots of cushions, indirect lighting, mixed fabrics with small or large patterns. The star product of the cozy look will be the trend-savvy rocking chair.
ECO
This represents both comfort and eco-friendliness. The “eco” style focuses on simple, raw materials including; white wood, wicker, wool, felt, raw cotton, handmade textiles (woven, quilted, knitted, or macramé). The “eco” showcases local and recycled products ,wood furniture with polished surfaces as well as reused objects. The natural colour palette will focus on earth, beige, sand, brown, brick red and soft greens tones.
LOFT
This look is based on a “domesticated” industrial style geared towards trendsetting couples. Colors associated with “loft” feature faded/washed out shades including smokey-greys and grey-greens. Accent colors include cherry red, sun yellow, anis green and fluorescent orange. Décor and accessories wise, the loft look will showcase metal objects, extra-large pendant lighting, long tables and quilted fabrics.
Cobistyle living room by Decor-Rest Furniture
The Cobistyle sofa and chair are presented here in Gibson plum and Corsica grape fabrics. The clean lines, nails studs and the walnut finish will add elegance to any living space. Summerset Signature bedroom and Vineyard Creek occasional table by Durham Furniture
The Summerset Signature bedroom collection is made from solid maple and is brought to life by two rich finishes: antique rye and aged wheat. Fluted pilasters, rope twist molding, turned feet and antique brass hardware are just a few of the elements that elevate the Summerset Signature collection to the heights of grace and sophistication. The round lamp table from the Vineyard Creek collection is made from solid cherry with maple solids. This group also comes in antique rye and aged wheat finish. Both collections are presented here in the antique rye finish.

Dining room by Canadel Furniture
The 4800 round table has a 48” diameter top and a “TP” base. The table is available in 5 different sizes, ranging from 40 to 60 inches in diameter. This set has four chairs, style number 5021 and the 5839 M1 sideboard that measures 58" x 39” x 18". This dining room is presented in the gris de davy finish and the mosaic petal serling fabric. Juvenile bedroom & rocking chair by Dutailier
The 733100 rocking chair measures 29” x 33” x 42” and its 732190 ottoman measures 20” x 20” x 16”. Both are made of Russian birch and 100% cotton.
The 834OC5 crib measures 53” x 29” x 35” and the 832003 dresser measures 46” x 20” x 35”. Both are made entirely of Russian birch and are presented in natural and white.

Dining room by Bertanie
The Pure Collection from Bertanie features 1” North American, solid birch table. Available in different sizes (here in 40” x 80”) . Introduced in 2011, these news chairs were designed for comfort as well as superior back support. They come with various seat and front leg options.
All Pure products are available in 26 finishes which can be combined. The chairs can be upholstered with any of the current fabrics as well as C.O.M. fabrics as shown here in wipe stained charcoal and fabric F106.

The T-48-Q table has a 48” diameter top and is presented in natura finish. Both the table top and foot are made of solid birch. Different sizes are available.
The BP1500 sideboard in opaque white and natura, measures 60” x 16” x 30”. The sideboard is in birch veneer and its legs are in solid birch.
The CC-89 chairs are also in natura finish and upholstered in Zoom 010 fabric. The chairs are in solid birch with (back and sides, also constructed in birch veneer).
All pieces are offered in 100+ fabrics and 18 different wood finishes.

Cubo & Wave dining room by Trica

A stylist with Les Idées de ma Maison for more than 20 years, Pierre D’Anjou is also a consultant on product display and tradeshow booth design. His client list includes the Montreal Gift Show, Kébecson, and Azure Magazine.
Trained as an interior designer, André Caron originally worked as a display designer at Eaton’s. For more than 20 years, he has worked as an interior designer and consultant on trade show booth design. He teaches display design at the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal.
