Q1 - Why change the dates to June?
The date change is the result of months of market research and consultations with the industry, which confirm that June is a better time for TCHFM to be held.
Q2 - If it’s such a good idea, why were the dates not
Timing is everything. The ideal conditions for making this change are now in place, including availability, industry support, competitive analysis and market conditions.
Q3 - Is TCHFM in trouble?
Though the past years have not set any attendance records, TCHFM remains a key player on the North American landscape as a showcase of the latest in home furnishings and decor. It has been and will remain so.
TCHFM, like any other major show, must continually adapt to changing market conditions in order to deliver maximum value. The change of dates is just one example of such evolution.
Q4 - What benefits do the new dates bring?
Research and consultations confirm that the new dates will make the show more accessible to buyers and sellers.
We will be able to expand the scope of the event because of the warmer climate.
Winter storms will no longer be a threat for travel.
The Las Vegas winter Market has been advanced by one week, which poses a time constraint for attendees wishing to attend both events, due to its proximity with TCHFM dates.
It will open up TCHFM to participation from a broader spectrum of buyers, including from Western Canada, the Atlantic Provinces and the U.S., as well as exhibitors. Be it for travel or availability, studies have shown that June is preferable for participants.
At this time of year, Toronto is alive with festivals, restaurants and other exciting events. It is a great time to enjoy the region.
We will be able to offer different activities. This time of year is also more favourable to hold an industry happening.
Q5 - Will it be the same show, just different dates?
The date change is just one of many enhancements we are making to TCHFM. Additional announcements will be forthcoming leading up to June 2015.
Q6 - Do you expect someone else to fill the void you
are leaving in January?
TCHFM is the only national Furniture show in Canada. There may be other regional shows held in various locations across Canada at different times of the year.
Q7 - Would a new event in January be a competitive threat to TCHFM?
Any event that increases the visibility of the furniture industry in Canada is welcomed.
Q8 - What other changes are coming to TCHFM?
There will be other announcements leading up to June 2015. Stay tuned! The best is yet to come.
Q9 - What reaction have you received to the date-change announcement?
We are sensitive that, for some, the change will require some adjustment in their planning that may present challenges. That said, the response has been overwhelmingly positive to the change of dates to June 2015.
Q10 - What are the move-in and move-out dates for exhibitors?
Move-in for exhibitors will be from June 1st to 3rd, and move-out from june 8th to 9th.

Mr. Pierre Richard, President of The Canadian Home Furnishings Market, is pleased to announce that the next TCHFM will be held June 4-7, 2015, at the International Centre in Toronto. The change of dates from the traditional January timeframe is part of an overall plan to refine and reposition TCHFM in order to maximize the experience for buyers and exhibitors.
